Dropbox adds automatic photo uploads for Windows and Mac, up to 3GB just for using it
Dropbox isn't short of aficionados, but it's undoubtedly lost some of its gleam since Google drove the cloud war into a frenzy. In response, Dropbox's devs have been at the squat rack pumping up their multimedia credentials, recently adding auto photo and video uploads to their Android app and now extending that feature to any camera, tablet, smartphone or SD card via the Mac or Windows utility -- an add-on that was previously beta-only. Access the web interface and you'll see your stills arranged in a handy new Photos page, which displays them as large thumbnails bunched together by month. There's a blunter enticement too: your first auto upload will secure 500MB in extra storage, with subsequent efforts also rewarded up to 3GB. Perhaps that cardboard isn't looking so soggy after all.

Big-hearted BMW dealer donates bike to rider's charity challenge
A FORMER Post motorcycle messenger who hopes to raise money for a group delivering vital supplies to hospitals has been presented with a new motorbike for the charity before he has even set off.
As previously reported in the Post, Mike Burns, 52, plans to cycle to 14 breast milk banks across England in 14 days, including stops at Manchester, Liverpool, Birmingham, Cambridge and Oxford.
He is raising money so that the Freewheelers Emergency Volunteer Service (EVS) – a group that uses motorcycles to deliver blood and other vital supplies to hospitals – can buy some new motorbikes.
Mr Burns, who now works as an online graphic designer, joined the group after seeing the care Southmead Hospital provided for a terminally ill family member three years ago.
As a result of our article, management at car dealership Dick Lovett BMW Motorrad in Laurel Court, Cribbs Causeway, contacted Mr Burns to say they wanted to donate a motorbike.
The BMW R1200 bike – the same sort that police use – has now been presented to Mr Burns.
But as well as donating the bike, 14 members of staff have also been given paid leave to join Mr Burns on his ride to help with fundraising.
Mr Burns, who lives in Church Road, Norton Malreward, is no stranger to tackling long bike rides for the worthy cause.
In 2010 he cycled from John O'Groats to Land's End and raised enough to buy the group its first ever emergency motorcycle.
And last year he put together another three-week, 1,250-mile ride which linked all the NHS blood centres nationwide and resulted in the charity acquiring another four motorcycles.
This year, with the opening of the new milk bank at Southmead, Mr Burns' challenge is to visit all of the country's milk banks.
The breast milk bank helps premature babies whose mothers have difficulty feeding them. The facility gives babies, who might otherwise be vulnerable to stomach problems, access to a supply of breast milk, even if their own mums are struggling to produce enough.
Mr Burns' bike ride starts in Leeds on Tuesday , and finishes on May 14 at Southmead Hospital.
Mr Burns said: "Freewheelers has recently formed a new Neo-natal Intensive Care Unit (NICU) support division and this year the intention is to raise money to buy motorcycles to deliver the donor breast milk and a car to transport mums to visit their newborn babies in care at NICU.
"I was amazed when Dick Lovett car dealership got in touch with me – they have been so generous and I'd like to say a big thank you."

'Avengers,' 'Dark Knight Rises' Lead Off Nerdy Summer Movie Season
Talk Nerdy weighs in on the most anticipated movies of summer 2012, from Batman's last voyage to Earth's mightiest superhero showdown.

"The Avengers" is just one week away. You know what that means: Aside from being the big payoff for years and years and years of waiting on the part of Marvel Comics fans, "Avengers" is also the opening act in what's sure to be one of the biggest summer movie seasons in quite some time. Batman, Spider-Man, Agent J and more are back in theaters after far too long a wait, while others — David 8, Roadblock, Alex Hopper — are showing up for the first time.
It's a crowded landscape to be sure; you'll want to spend your hard-earned theatergoing cash wisely if you want to weed out the fantastic, can't-miss movies from the fugly, must-miss ones. That's why the nerds at MTV News used this week's edition of Talk Nerdy to guide you through the upcoming blockbuster months with which movies you need to see, which ones you can skip, and which ones shouldn't slip under your radar.
Do Not Miss
» "Marvel's The Avengers": The movie that launches the summer season could very well be the biggest, greatest blockbuster of them all. Iron Man, Thor, Captain America, the Hulk and more, all together on one big screen with geek god Joss Whedon to guide them — how can it go wrong? Spoiler: It doesn't. It goes incredibly, incredibly right.
» "The Dark Knight Rises": Likewise, how can Christopher Nolan's final Batman movie be anything but spectacular? It's hard to imagine anything topping "The Dark Knight" both critically and commercially, but if any summer movie can do it, it's "Rises." Tom Hardy, Anne Hathaway, Joseph Gordon-Levitt ... with a cast of Gotham City newcomers like that, and a trilogy-concluding story to boot, there is no room for failure.
» "Prometheus": As I've said repeatedly, "Prometheus" is the movie I'm looking forward to more than any other this year. Ridley Scott returning to the "Alien" universe — heck, to science fiction period — for the first time in three decades? Yeah, that's an event worth tuning in for. Michael Fassbender, Noomi Rapace, Charlize Theron and others only further cement this sci-fi flick's potential status as a classic in the making.
Proceed With Caution
» "The Amazing Spider-Man": If "Avengers" is the Marvel movie to beat this summer, where does that leave your friendly neighborhood Spider-Man? It leaves him in a land of uncertainty. Expectations are high for Marc Webb's "Spider-Man" reboot. Confidence in his vision? Considerably lower. Even with a compelling cast led by Andrew Garfield in tow, "Spider-Man" has more than a few obstacles to overcome if it wants to stand out as one of the summer's can't-miss flicks.
» "Dark Shadows": Tone, tone, tone. It's something that fans are very divided over when it comes to Tim Burton and Johnny Depp's latest collaboration. Some "Dark Shadows" purists are pining for a film that's more faithful to the spirit of the original gothic soap. Others are through the moon happy with Burton and Depp's whimsical approach. As for Team Nerdy, perhaps we have a bit of Burton-Depp fatigue, because we're not overly wild about this one.
» "Total Recall": Between "Fright Night" and now "Total Recall," Colin Farrell is quickly becoming the King of the Remake — but are these remakes that anyone's particularly clamoring for? In the case of the August-debuting "Recall," there is no Mars, and not a Schwarzenegger in sight. Not great signs for the upcoming remake, at least not by Nerdy co-host Brian Phares' standards.
Watch Closely
» "G.I. Joe: Retaliation": Forget "Rise of Cobra." Dwayne Johnson, the franchise savior, is doing what he does best in "Retaliation": stepping in to restore the real American heroes to glory. Every single photo and bit of footage we've seen has us convinced that "Retaliation" will be one of the greatest action movies of the summer. But can it overcome the bad reputation it earned after "Rise of Cobra" hit in 2009? We'll see in June.
» "Battleship": Just because there are no new "Transformers" movies coming out this summer doesn't mean theaters won't be populated by robots in disguise. In a surprising turn of events, the big-screen adaptation of the board game "Battleship" contains aliens. Lots of 'em. Taylor Kitsch looks to the stars for the second time this year, hoping for a much better outcome this go-around than the commercial bomb known as "John Carter." Smart money says "Battleship" will fare much better at the box office. How it does critically? That's another story for another day.
» "Men in Black 3": Do not — I repeat, do not — discount Will Smith's box-office appeal. The man is a hit-making machine. Four years after his last starring role, Smith's back with his biggest franchise of all time. Anyone who expects this movie to do anything other than make an otherworldly amount of money is in for a rude awakening, production horror stories be damned.
Which summer movies are you most looking forward to? Let us know in the comments below!

Jennifer Lawrence In Talks For 'Glass Castle' Movie
'Hunger Games' star may land a lead role in the film adaptation of Jeannette Walls' best-selling memoir.

With the success of "The Hunger Games," it's no surprise Jennifer Lawrence is a sought-after leading lady. With three films hitting theaters this fall — including "House at the End of the Street" and "The Silver Linings Playbook" — she has a busy schedule, but it looks like Lawrence might add another project to her repertoire.
Deadline Hollywood reports that Lionsgate's production president, Erik Feig, has acquired the rights to gossip columnist Jeanette Walls' best-seller "The Glass Castle: A Memoir." Gil Netter ("The Blind Side") is set to produce and Marti Noxon ("Buffy the Vampire Slayer," "I Am Number Four") is attached to pen the script.
Walls' book follows her nomadic childhood as she grew up moving around the Southwest desert with her parents and three siblings. When he was sober, her father Rex nurtured his children's imagination and taught them to embrace life. Her mother Rose Mary was an artist who would rather paint and write than be responsible for her family. When their money was finally gone, they returned to West Virginia where her father drank and stole and Walls and her siblings were forced to support each other. While her tale seems grim, she paints her parents in a loving light because, despite her family's flaws, they played a huge role in her success. Upon its release in 2005, the book spent more than 250 weeks on the New York Times Best Sellers list, which was a first for any memoir.
The story is a departure from the male-centered movies Lionsgate usually releases. They're known for films such as "Warrior," "The Lincoln Lawyer," "Abduction" and "Conan the Barbarian." But perhaps with the overwhelming success of "Hunger Games" and its strong heroine, the company will focus on more female-lead narratives.
